I co-founded WCT with Tony Horitz and Sharon Muiruri. Seeing the impact of Tony and Sharon’s theatre-in-education work with children at Kingston Lacy, and attending a performance of Morna Watson’s site-specific Theatre of the Heart in Dorset, made me realize how people of all ages could enjoy devising and acting stories in unusual and inspiring locations.
Having worked professionally in arts development and management, my interest has always been the creative production of shows, finding locations and partners to help make our productions, digging down for stories and playing with fiction and history – pushing boundaries, and making things happen by finding grants and managing the projects. I don’t enjoy acting myself (although I have taken part in some productions), but I do enjoy opportunities to write and develop scripts and lyrics.
It’s very satisfying – being part of a community of people who are open and playful, and familiar with working creatively with ideas and stories in our own particular way.
