Visit to Blandford Royal Signals Museum
22 Dec 2024
In the autumn of last year some of us met the curator of the Royal Signals Museum at Blandford Camp to talk about the Reminiscences project and see the museum exhibits related to WW1. In spite of the rather daunting army security checks to get onto the camp, we had a fascinating time. The camp was used in the Great War to train navy personnel for land warfare and you can still see the trenches dug for training. The museum is focused on communications and we learnt how important pigeons were for carrying vital intelligence in the war. The museum is interested in getting involved in the project and we hope they will be able to lend us some objects from the period.
